Do's and Don'ts for Hydrated Winter Skin

1.     DO bump-up your moisturizer game. Heating systems in your home, office and car may feel toasty, but they are causing excess evaporation—leaving your skin parched!

You may need a different moisturizer this time of year from the one that quenched you perfectly during summertime. Speak with your Grove and Kane esthetician to determine which choice is best for you.

2.     DON’T use hot water to cleanse! Only use room-temperature water to cleanse with, as hot water will dehydrate your skin. Be especially mindful of this when showering…we love hot showers as much as the next person, but your face doesn’t!

3.     DON’T wait for your skin to dry after cleansing before applying skin care products! Focus on “locking-in” moisture from your cleanse by applying toners, serums, and moisturizers while your skin still has some residual moisture.

4.     DO wear sunscreen! Even though you feel Vitamin D-deficient and sun-deprived, damaging UVA radiation is still making its way through clouds and car windows. Keep applying SPF every morning to keep wrinkles, sunspots and skin cancer at bay.

5.     DO focus on your skin this winter! Now is the time to add a Vitamin C and Retinol product to your daily regimen (if you haven’t already), and do a series of Chemical Peels.

Think of your skin treatments (especially Peels and Microderms) as “workouts” for your skin, and your serums as multivitamins! Make it your New Year’s resolution to get your skin in shape: you deserve it!

Cheers to a healthy, bright and hydrated 2019!

Xoxo
